While addressing residents and Muslim faithful, Hajji Kaliisa emphasised unity, proper management, and responsible use of the newly established facility.

He later toured the mosque alongside Naome Kabasharira.

During the ceremony, the mosque keys were formally handed over by Ssimuka Muhammad and his wife to Kashangirwe Swaleh, the Ntungamo District Qadhi, on behalf of the Muslim community.

Sheikh Kashangirwe thanked the donors for establishing what he described as a “flagship mosque” in the district and appealed to government to increase support towards education in Ntungamo, especially for Muslim-founded schools.

Hajji Kaliisa commended the donors and the district Muslim leadership for their contribution towards the growth and development of Islam in the area.

Sam Mucunguzi Rwakigoba, the Ntungamo District LCV Chairperson, pledged to work with Members of Parliament from the district to support the development of Muslim schools.

In her remarks, Kabasharira encouraged communities to initiate development projects on their own, saying government support becomes easier once residents demonstrate commitment through self-driven initiatives.

The opening of the mosque is expected to provide additional prayer space and community facilities for residents of Nyamwiza village and surrounding areas.
